Default Mondeo Garage Bill correct?

Hello,

I recently got my 2005 Mondeo Ghia x serviced. I asked the garage to look over the car to see if anything was needing done.

I need Front brake disks & pads, Os outer CV boot burst, needs anti freeze changing, play in N/S rear wheel baring (so needs replacing) and anti roll bar boot upper burst

I was quoted £460 to get everything sorted, is this a good price or how much should I been looking to pay?

Thanks alot in advance

Agreed, that's not a bad price
Full service plus front brakes was £400 for me 9 years ago at mates rates for all fluids and filters

Sounds a decent price, I was charged £200 once just to have a rear bearing done at ford.

Are they fitting a new o/s driveshaft or replacing the boot?

Thanks for your replys, I have already paid for the service so this is all separate work from a different garage.

I am not sure if they are fitting a new o/s driveshaft or replacing the boot, I just showed them the list & asked to get it all fixed.. So im guessing they would need to replace it all?

Thanks again

Find out what their labour rate is. Most garages pull off the quoted hours from auto data, then quote their labour per hour plus parts.

It works in your favour sometimes, auto data quoted 3.5 hours to do a heater matrix on my wife's car, so they quoted that and it ended up taking 2 days.

Pads & discs £150 max
Cv boot remove and replace (ask them to use a stretchy boot saves on labour time) £50 max takes about 25 mins
Anti freeze £40 drain and re-fill
Rear bearing £90 max
Anti roll bar link about £8 to buy and two nuts need undoing to fit it the wheels are already off for pads and discs so £40 max I'd say including parts

Total £370

I'd call around get some quotes sounds like some people like overpaying

It was £75 fit a shaft for my fiesta plus an hour to fit it, or I could have got the boot changed but the CV was shot

Any garage that trusts autodata for something like a heater matrix musnt be working at cars long ! lol Some stuff on it the times are just mental, and with most cars anything involving heater matrix is a total nightmare of a job. Sometimes worse.

Fair play to them for standing over a quote though

Probably most garages these days will say they don't have time to do a matrix just as its normally always a complete cunt of a job lol

The garage has been there since the early 70's and have just expanded so I think they are doing alright lol.

I have always owned a ford so I am quite friendly with them, they keep saying they will sting me one day
