Default Ruin my Cossie?

I've got the sudden temptation to piss the purists off and have a laugh at the same time. My saph cos is solid whereas never been welded etc but the bodywork is shot, dents all over and painted badly in citrine yellow meaning it needs a bare metal respray. Also needs 2 doors
And a bootlid and some other bits doing. I'll prob never be able to afford this so I've been thinking of another plan. I been thinking about making it look like a standard Sierra with 1.6 badge on boot and all sorts. I've even been toying with it lowered on some 15" steel wheels to make it look even more shit. Probably surprise a few people off the traffic lights and would be something different. Just a thought but not sure if I could do it lol

I'm quite liking the sound of it being citrine yellow, any pics fella? I remember that was one of the 'in' colours to paint your modded ride back when I was a teenager and used to go to car cruises...!

An ex had a citrine S1 kitted 3i. Couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, but looked cool! Proper 90's colour, looks really good on the saff!!
Like the sound of your idea, worked ok for wennys mk3, don't see why it can't work for yours!?
Enjoy it like that, can always save up to get it fixed up in the future.......

I had thought about it but with a 2 year old girl and being skint 99% of the time were living wage packet to wage packet at the mo. I could strip it down myself and attempt my own respray. I've painted panels in the past that came out ok but never painted an entire car. I know enough people in the trade I suppose I could get advice off and if I did the prep ocd style it may come out ok

Thanks chaps, I didn't think anyone liked it as it is lol! Had a couple people at Rs Combe last year comment that they liked it but most just take the piss. Would imagine it would be quite good fun looking like a lowered bog standard Sierra 1.6, then again it would possibly turn out like a piece of coont but like u say there's some good sleepers out there

Lol I may have been better off if I was a big issue seller. Got a smokestone bootlid in the garage in mint condition and Been offered some doors for £50 each. No point getting them yet as haven't got the storage and can't afford to paint them !

Btw how much do u think mot testers earn lol??

If you are that skint then sell it! A hobby is a hobby, but a cossie is a bloody expensive one. Put the money away and focus on a stable job / career.

Nah I'd never sell it, when I can't afford to use it or do anything on it then it just sits in the garage gathering dust

Problem is, if you sell it, what would you get for it?! Always a limited market for a non standard colour car, plus, if it needs bits doing....

Won't cost much to de/re badge it and sling a set of steels on it.

Nothing to loose by giving it the standard look! At the end of the day, it's your car, you piss the purists off even more if you broke it... And it's not like your fitting a stupid Halfords twatty body kit!!

GOING to be completely honest here....

I fucking love that colour on there!!!!

Imop leave it the fcuk alone, MAYBE try Glossing the wheels black, darken the trims too match...angry wasp it

If its genuine cossie don't rat look it, so so bored of the same old style wheel, on the same old car, in the same old body colours just because its the done trend.

That colour is a ford colour, so deserves to be shown an worn on any ford it fits..sorry to the purists but we do have plenty of pure ones AND alot of clones, this is a refreshing change.

You could look at sorting the shabby bits, maybe look at getting a pearl laquer over the citrine to make it pop into this decade, like a lambo does or combat CAMO graphics over the yellow using that colour as the back drop...

Looks ok to me apart from the wank Rs badge in the grille, just run it as is until you can afford to sort it in a few years or so, it's only going to appreciate in value.
You'd soon get tired of it looking shit and thin steelies would be more dangerous than funny and you may end up stacking it

Agree 100%.

Don't blow your life for an old Ford seen that a few times on here. Ive always said on here Build your life & then your car. I was 51 when I stated messing with these old bangers. By that stage I had built a great life for my family.

Needs a Ford badge in the grille, apart from that I strangely like it!
So how long have you owned this, did you paint it this colour, or what's the history behind it?

If paint is as bad as u say, I would buy doors this month then each month after save £100 and then by show time next year will have enough to get it wrapped. Doors and bootlid can be any colour under the wrap.

Thanks matey. I had thought about painting the new bootlid I have in the garage black and then the roof and bonnet in black along with black wheels.

Why on earth would you want to drive around in a car that looks totally shit? Yes, a sleeper is funny, but how often are you going to be burning people off the lights? Very rarely in all honesty. The rest of the time you're just stuck driving round in a car that looks shit. Just don't see the appeal.

Save up and have it fixed or, if you're struggling for money like it sounds, do what others have said, sell it and spend the money on your family. Cars are just that, cars. Family is more important.

I just leave it in the garage when I can't afford to use it or fix it, doesn't cost me anything then. Selling it is pointless as the money I'd get would be gone in 5 minutes and then I'd have nothing. Plus I have gone to sell it before and the missus won't let me lol. I had thought about selling it and with half the money getting something else I'd like but everything's shot up in value now.

Don't get me wrong were not eating beans on toast every night and sleeping in sacks lol. Just don't have disposable income that's all. But as and when I've got a couple of extra quid and the family are sorted it goes on the car but very rarely these days. When little one gets older then can spend a few more quid on it again maybe and get respray done then. Out of interest what does anyone think it's worth now if I was to sell it? Not that I would but just out of interest. I've got it insured to £10k so at least I'm well covered. It's prob worth more in bits
