Right my motor has done around 700 miles since rebuild and already the cam cover has leaked everywhere.
Question is - i've been using stainless bolts over the original mild steel is the engine getting hot enough to make the stainless expand enough to make this leak?
I have purchased a full set of mild steel to test this out but just curious as this only started after stainless was used i just didn't think it would get hot enough.
Cheers

Just out of curiosity, what gasket did you use?
I've recently swapped my old cover and, as I was thinking about getting it powdercoated in future, used a cometic gasket. I've had them leak a lot in the past, but, so far the cometic one hasn't leaked.....?

Problem with rocker cover gaskets is the half moons, make sure you buy good ones, the repro ones and narrower and not as tall, i've always bought them from GGR as i've found them to be the best, use no sealent except for in half moon corners, one under gasket where half moon sits, one on top and no issues

Used stainless bolts on mine also (with no issues), I doubt that's the issue if I'm honest.
As said, you need a decent gasket and Tiger seal on the orange "half moon" areas, never needed to apply it to the paper gasket area though, should be fine as is.

I've always suffered, they last a little while then leak - always use genuine half moons and Cometic gaskets.
The stainless bolts have been in and out loads of times now as they've been used for years so mild steel bolts and Hylomar

They leak from under the front cam caps.
Remove clean reseal job sorted.
I also use cometic and stainless bolts.
I would not use tiger sealer as its adhesive and shit to remove.

I always use loctite 534 Gasket positioner, it's not a liquid it is like a pritt-stick type tube, I've applied it to both sides of every cometic gasket on mine (not on the half moons) and it is still leak free for well over 10yrs now! Mind you it hasn't gone any where for the past 3 lol, also have stainless bolts with no problems.
Put in this place(red arrows) under of front bearing cam caps loctite and in the upper place and on gasket also and check the half moons during fitting cam cover to sit the half moons correct!

Why fuck about lol a good gasket sealer dose no harm what so ever as long as you don't use half a tube a cover it. Use sparingly and there be no leak 100% guaranteed. Also stainless bolts will make no difference what so ever
