Hi are the symptoms of a knackered tps popping, banging and lightly juddering on the over run? Bought a new Bosch sensor anyway but want to know for definate. Am I right in thinking the way to set the new tps up is to listen for a click when the throttle first opens? Mine doesn't do this at the moment

thats correct it should click once opening the throttle very slightly. This will also control the cold start.

changing any sensor is fine but firstly check with a multimeter that yours is dead. Then compare a replacment with manufactors settings.

finally it will need a good set up and tune to get it all in sync.
