Default Going to Attempt MFI - EFI Conversion.. Just Painted My Inlet!

So guys I've bitten the bullet and gone for the EFI conversion and decided to scrap the MFI.

I've just painted up my EFI inlet it took me a few days but in the end it came out like this..

Looks blue but to the human eye its gloss black. Proper happy with the result.

Will be converting my MFI running escort to EFI in the next few weeks. Not looking forward to the wiring which will be the next stage but will be giving it a go!

That looks lovely mate!
Which EFI system are you going for, something brand new or an old Ford setup?

You may find you have just as many issues with OFAB these days, be sure to check/test your loom and sensors etc. as best you can before installation, everything is still 20+ years old too.

Is now a bad time to suggest using an escort RS Turbo cross over pipe? Looking great Tejy. Did you use 2K or rattle can?

Rob,
I've got a escort crossover pipe but will be selling the mfi inlet etc all together as they've been painted gloss black

Will be using a fiesta rocker cover with this crossover pipe so it will fit.. thats the plan anyway!

Used a rattle can for primer, base coat and lacquer from a spray gun and compressor

stripped the loom out yesterday will be giving the wiring a once over next week and attempt to fit it all in the coming weeks!

Rob,
Any particular reason for using an ERST one Rob? I've always thought the sharp turn on the FRST charge carrier vs. the radius curve on the escort one would hinder the airflow a bit.

I have to ask ; what is the going rate for an EFI manifold these days and can it be made easily to work with other injectors and ECU setups?

Big choice of injectors fit that manifold, pretty much any standalone management should be ok to configure to the inlet, you can get sensor bosses to convert to cossie type coolant and act sensors off oddkidd, good sensors to use as the data for them us easily found and the sensors are readily available from msd etc

No big reason, I was just winding him up , but yes the FRST has a nasty 90 deg turn where as the ERST has a smoother radius. In reality it probably doesn't make a difference.

Gaskets For Classics - 01908 366435

Cost me under a tenner. Shipping was more than the gaskets

IMO Either pipe makes little difference when using the EFI inlet which is a terrible inlet full stop (just look at it! lol), if you are worried about optimal flow you would choose another inlet and pipework accordingly

As for old looms, I wouldn't recommend using one, I never do... But if people want the plug and play option that's their choice and at least using an OFAM ECU makes fault finding it faster
I have a car in at the moment that's been EFI converted using OFAC and the loom is a right mess, I've spent a good few hours just diagnosing and repairing it... In fact this is why the car is with me, the customer couldn't get it to run right after the conversion! lol

Being stuck in the past thinking MS is just poorly built home made management doesn't help anyone, same as flogging the dead Cossie management horse... Times change, things move on, you have to move with them!

Im sure tejy does not want any bickering between you guys on his thread, if you really want to debate the pros and cons of things I suggest you pick up the phone and talk to each other as neither of you are paid traders on this site.
