Default Modine vs oil rad

Whats everyone's thoughts on replacing the modine with say a 16 row oil cooler,or running it in tandem.
Car will be used for general track days, and will be taking to spain again. Its about 350bhp.
I'm looking at a belts and braces approach, don't want it cooking if i'm thousands of miles away from home.
Cheers all
Matt

I replaced my modine with a thermostated sandwich plate plumbed into a oil cooler behind my front bumper. And seems to work well.
Never had temp issues.

I,ve got myself a mocal 16 row oil cooler to fit on my 3dr.
But in my case one of the previous owners removed the modine and replaced with nothing . If its a fast road car the modine is probably sufficient imo but if track days etc then probably better off with 16/19 row mocal or similar cooler.
With the modine oil will probably get upto working temp from cold a bit quicker as it exchanges heat from the coolant into the oil.
My preferance is definitely a seperate cooler however as youre not putting that heat energy into your engine cooling system to deal with imo giving a bit more headroom on those hot summer days.

I replaced the Modine on my XR4x4 twin turbo with a 19 row Mocal cooler and thermostatic sandwich plate as the cooling system wasn't coping on hot days. Oil temperature is the same but the cooling system never gets too hot now.
