Apologies if this has been covered before, but having searched I havent seen it. I was wondering what you guys are using on your cars regarding the exhaust emissions for the MOT, I have a full Mongoose system on my P reg Escort, up till now the MOT tester kinda used another cars breath to get mine through, (did I just say that). Anyway, having to travel a way for this service I kinda wanted to put something perm on the car without swapping over to the standard exhaust each year, what is everyone else doing, it cant be just me who has aftermarket exhaust on the car....

I got two Magnaflows in my saff's Magnex, side by side. Plenty of flow and emissions are low enough...but the buggers scrape on every bump - eventually even knocked the turbo loose from the manifold. Otherwise fit & forget, as they don't really seem to have downsides performance-wise.

 

Thanks for that info, I thought that was the route I'd have to go, weld a cat into the system. I must be the only person on this forum who is having an issue, or the answer is a secret that few want to share..

I have a feeling people either swap an original exhaust in for the MOT, or do as you've done so far.
If I'd known the trouble I have now with ground clearance, the cats would be bolted, not welded in, and I'd swap them on only for the MOT too...

 

Tell the tester the engine is from a 1989 saph, they should test it to none cat standards
