I'm still on an old paper license so it should be no problem in the states.

I expect most foreign hire companies will be unaware and the paper part will continue to be used.

I suspect not and will be charging you for online checks, which you can do yourself for free, print and take with you

Hire companies I've used abroad do not usually bother, but some will get wise to the changes and always look to earn a few quid more out of you

Do you happen remember who that was with? Trying to find a decent muscle car to rent when I fly out to Chicago later this year and can't find anything suitable using Google.

i think it was hertz, they do offer the Mustang, Camaro and challenger in their adrenalin package , i got my camaro as a cheap upgrade, unlimited miles, i had booked a big 4 door saloon, and asked what my options were, thinking rather than a chevy i could get the dodge charger 4 door, and when i said about v8 he offered me a camaro, but i could have had a mustang or i think a challenger, loads of them all in the car park, had the camaro for about 16 days and did 5k miles, cost me about 300 quid, plus lots of fuel, you might have to do the same, book a suitable car and see about an upgrade to v8

Thanks for that.

Yes, I've seen that Hertz range, but it won't let you book one from Chicago. In fact, a lot of them won't, which is what I found a bit puzzling, but guessed they must only do certain locations, so glad you've confirmed they do have them there!

I found somewhere offering Mustang Convertibles, but fancied something a bit meatier! On your advice I might just book the Mustang and ask to upgrade when I'm there.
