Default mk6 escort 1.4, both front electric windows don't work???

Hi all. Well I have a new daliy in the shape of a mk6 1.4 4 Dr escort. I really love it and is so much nicer to drive than my old panda. But the biggest prob is both the front electric windows don't work. They don't even attempt to go up or down. I've checked the fuse, but I'm a old skool guy and am not to good with electrical stuff. So any help is much appreciated?

Cheers all

Sam

first place I would look is the switch tbh as very common area to fail, then start digging deeper like plugs/relays/fuses and worst case motors etc

Agree with you , quite often people think of the worst case scenario first instead of starting with the simple things. For the small cost of new switches that would be number one.
My 2wd Saff had a problem with the drivers front electric window not working, one new switch and as good as new again.

Check for power (12v) at the switches first with ignition on

Yeah but one side of the switch works so why won't both windows go down?

I'm pretty certain, if one switch stops working, it'll affect both windows.

Right ok then mate, I tested it also with a single switch off a mk5 so that would be why it wouldn't work with that too. I'll pop to ford tomorrow and see if thay got one.
