Hope I can get some ideas/help on here!
I have a '03 1.6 focus zetec manual.
When I put the engine under load (usually after changing gear or just pulling away) I get a fairly loud clatter from the engine, sounds like it could be pinking.
I really don't know what could be causing this.
I have changed the cambelt and the timing is spot on (checked this recently).
The car does also feel underpowered compared to other 1.6 zetecs, I know they arnt powerful but it definitely isn't what it should be.

Any help would be appreciated!

 

Maybe a low oil pressure problem?

 

Maybe but it does seem like a pinking noise if you know what I mean.
I get no oil pressure lights and oil usage is normal.

 

Could be the tensioner?

 

It has a new tensioner on it and it was apparent before changin the belt.
