Default escort xr3i efi engine swap

Hi all , just wondered if anyone can help . I have an escort 1.6 cvh efi and its making some serious noises . what I need to know is if I swap the engine over to another which I have can I leave the gear box in the car and then also swap the clutch for a new one while its out . thanks

Been a while since I did a cvh but I'm sure it lifts out the top pretty easily without having to remove box and shafts...

I'd take exhaust manifold off to make things a bit easier but just split at gearbox and remove rear engine mount and lift out!

Remove up and out of the engine bay. Can't remember if the driveshafts need removing, it's been a while since I've done one this way.

Most suggest dropping the cvh to the floor.

ive always took the cvh out of top with box in place never been a issue if done carefully
