Came home and found someone in the house had put my ecu on top of the surround sound sub, and had heard not to put the sub too close to the tv as the magnetic field can affect the picture could the magnet have affected the ecu? Or am I being paranoid
I know leaving hard drives next to subs writes them off. Wrote of a desktop computer of mine years back so it Might have ruined the chip. Could be wrong though?

I can understand that, as they would be sensitive to magnetic fields, given they are a magnetic storage device (traditional hard disks that is) and likewise an old CRT TV/Monitor would be affected, although I can't think this would apply to a TFT.
The ECU is solid state and so I can't see it being a problem.
It is normally demagnetising with an ac field that is the biggest killer, we had a demagnetising unit at my old work and it fried my watch and credit card when I left them in my pocket by mistake lol.
