Default Speeding in Switzerland in a rental

Was in Basel in September last year. Rented a mondey estate for a few days and only yesterday I got in the post a letter from the police there saying I'm to appear in court for doing 79 in a 50! Looks like if I was 4km slower I would have got a fine but as I was over their limits I have to go to court. Anyone had this before? Don't what to do!! I'm thinking of writing to them pleading guilty and including a cheque for 200 quid? Am I mad?

I wouldn't, tell them you want proof it was you at the wheel and you want to see proof of that you were speeding first. Or just do that^

If they want to extradite you and take you to court then fair enough, I can't see it happening for a speeding fine though!!

It really depends if you ever plan on going to Switzerland again I'd have thought? If yes then best to try to sort it, if not then as above, fuck em.

Depends if it will cause you inconvenience in the future
