hi guys im looking at getting a new motor for when i sell the frs, now i really want an estate and have been looking at:
A6 avant 2.7 or 3.0 diesel
octavia vrs petrol or diesel
Im looking at getting something that i can moderately tune.I really like the idea of a well tuned diesel to be honest.
I cant really think of anything else.
My budget would be no more than 8k to buy the car as im looking to buy a new motor bike this year also (ducati 749).
Any suggestion for me and what could be achieved with a remap.

535d touring, remap and you're shifting very quickly indeed, not that standard isn't quick.
Try for an m sport with i drive sat nav options, loads of there in your budget.

A guy I know has a 330d touring (I think that's right) he's had it remapped and it goes like fuck. He's put some nice m3 wheels on it and looks awesome. I wouldn't bother with an Alfa there piles of junk from my experience. Failed a 4 year old Alfa on rust a little while back on floor by seatbelt mount couldn't believe it.

As said, you could get a really good mondeo ST tdci estate and have plenty of change left over. My ST tdci is a great car and it's never let me down (touch wood). I must admit I do like an "under the radar car" that's why I said the alfa romeo 156 GTA but in reality you couldn't use one every day, unless you've got a good sense of humour. A Volvo V70 D5 is a very capable motor. And then there is the usual German fodder

Been looking at the 530d now as well.
I really do like the volvo v50 its a really nice car but a bit boring.
The mondeos are nice s well but I think it's the luck of the draw with them whether you get a good one or a bad one but I suppose you can say that about any car.

With the right mods you can get them over 200 bhp and well over 450lb of torque. I'm fitting a de-cat to mine this afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes.

would be even louder with a full stainless but that would be too much for my liking.

Most def not a diesel, but I had one of the later JDM Forester STI's which was great. V charismatic, very practical and lots of fun when having a blast by yourself.
You might have to stretch your £8k budget by a touch though.
(Avoid a used Alfa like the plague. My work ran 156's as a fleet car and they were shocking from start to finish.)
Cheers
