Default remap questions

hi guys first post on here
looking to get a 1.6 fiesta zetec s mk6 and i wanted to get it remapped for extra power and better mpg and read it was really worth doing but then i saw on another thread on some other site that basically it was pointless doing it unless it had shawspeed ss4 cams on it, wondering how much that would all cost and whether its worth doing without the cams?

Wouldn't bother without the cams as gains will be minute.

SS4's are quite lairy and not really suited to the road, SS3's or Lightning Motorsport's equivalents would be a better option.

so you reckon without cams its not worth it, do you know how much ss3s are roughly and whether its a diy job or something i would need to take to a garage?

remaps work well on all cars, but more in terms of response and a little economy.
it's diesels that really benefit from it, that said my 330 petrol i had was so much better to drive after a remap, but the extra power was minor.
remap on my 330d, totally different story though!
