I've had a scout about but can't find any with the v12 for sale. The v12's command a premium, the cheapest non v12 is 800.

They didn't make an E38 760i? Must be a 750i?

Good cars for the money, though they do have a few expensive and common problems, such as leaky fuel tanks etc... For £500 you can't go far wrong!

Yeah, 750i. 5.4 V12, great cars.

Earliest 760i was the E65.

Quite rare, but not many buyers, plenty of people want a few k for them, but they never seem to sell unless exceptional spec, so you could double you money really 1k to 1.5k as above

£963 ended and sold, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-BMW-7...item43d69c6b3c

£1,220 ended reserve not met http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-BMW-7...item2a4a36245a

£4,700 ended sold http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1996-BMW-7...item4875efcd81

^ not sure why soo much for that one?

and the V12s dont command a premium, it seems the 728s do, due to its still a nice car , but the running costs are soo much lower.

Make sure its all good for 500, as said about leaky fuel tanks they are common, 1k new from bmw! and a fair amount of work to change, worn front brakes and thats 300ish for none oem stuff, front end wobble at 50mph, loads of expensive bushes!

My water pump failed, £600 in parts!

Bloody lovely car I think, though expensive to run.

A mate just picked up a 535i for £1200. Not the quickest thing ever, but a nice barge for running around it. You get a lot for your money with the 5s and 7s of that era.

Check its not going into limp home mode as mine kept doing.
There's actually 3 engine ECUs, one for each bank of cylinders and one for the DBW throttle. Spendy proper if faulty.

At that price it's got to be worth a punt though even if you just smoke round in it for a couple of months surely?
