Carbon fibre skinning?
Noticed the paint on the A4's bonnet has started to crack and craze. Was just going to have it stripped and repainted but a mate of mine suggested I had it vinyl wrapped. Wasn't overly keen on the idea but another friend piped up with having the existing bonnet overskinned in real carbon fibre.
Anybody know anything about this and what a bonnet would likely cost?

just get it repainted
Unless you know what you are doing and have hours and hours to spend sanding and polishing then it will look shit.
Plus people will ask if youve got a carbon bonnet and youll have to admit its just skinned and actually heavier than standard as a result
Working with composites, Im fairly biased but generally we tend to look down upon skinning. Too many chavs do it as well
but its not as bad as fake carbon vinyl wrapping.
Its always the same at work, you get a call from certain "types" of people, usually from brum or bradford, with a poverty spec scrapper E36 BMW with M3 badges etc "you want to skin your entire bmw? yeah course you do".

I wasn't going to go DIY, I lack the patience and REALLY lack the time needed to do it to an acceptable standard.
Of course a genuine carbon bonnet would be a preffered option but at circa £600 for one it won't be happening. Thought a genuine skin would at least give it the proper look and allow me to retain a perfect fit and stock catches.
