I can't remeber the name of the stuff I bought but the paint guy recons it's much better than the 3m as it paints in green and dries black, and dries in a couple of hours as it water based. I'm yet to use it!

what gun did you use? just a standard one? I want a smoother finish but can't find a good gun that isn't Ł200

It was a sealer gun mate you screw the tubes to it i think it mentions the bags are so you dont need a gun not sure this does not go on smooth has a textured finish its not thin enough to mist like paint more like spatters on

yeah don't want a really smooth finish just not too course, I'm still undecided as to what im going to and not to stone chip, as in some do the entire bottom and some do half of it.

Ive just removed my old underseal/stonechip off the front arches to do in Gravitex and 2k to match the rest of the underside I've re-done and the Tetrosyl Aerosol stone chip I originally done it in is the hardest stuff to remove in the world. Even with a wire brush on a grinder its hard work. I wasn't expecting it to be so tough. It's not brittle and doesn't chip, either! So thats good if anyone's on a budget.

Never use Hammerite on the underside, though. Its shit. Was so easy to remove. It's brittle so chipped really easily and tore off in big chunks when I removed it..

I've used Gravitex and overpainted with 2k and I'm quite happy with it. I rollered both on with a small edging roller as the schutz gun they supplied with shit and it turned out really well. I like undersides to look textured, though, not smooth. Personal preference I guess.

The 3M stuff is apparently very good, but about 4 times the cost.

3M is the best but for a mid sized car it will cost around Ł250 plus gun. Gravitex is good and will do the job I have used this many times but it must be painted.

I want something that doesnt require painting over the top.

The plan is to stonechip it, then decide wether or not to paint over the top, so i have the option. Need something that doesnt.

Whats the difference in a aqua based stonechip/paint? And dont say one has water in it lol. Is it that its thinner??

From what I can remember the gravitex has a slight green tinge to it, so maybe not the best thing to leave exposed? Just get super bufty and paint it... I did mine myself and it came out quite well

Yeah, it's goes on quite thick with the roller and leaves a nice texture. I gave it about 3 coats. I was told 6 bottles was about right for an escort and used 2 1/2 on the boot floor and rear arches leaving 3 1/2 left for the main floor and front arches, so that's about right.

Gravitex comes in 3 colours. Black, white and grey. Apparently it doesn't need over painting, but I would.
