Default which way round do you fit lowering springs

right guys, got myself some new lowering springs, can't be hard and all that, which way round do you fit them as if you look at them one end has more of a compressed coil closer together than the other end, so what I'm asking is does the "more compressed" bit sit at the top or does it sit at the bottom, hope that makes sense

cheers fellas

Have you looked for any markings on the springs?

A number of peeps from other marks always suggest to fit the end of the springs with more coils at the top towards the top of the strut.

As above, closest coils at the top. but to be honest it doesn't really matter. If in doubt I have fitted them before with any numbers etc on them the right way up.

are they not as good because why???
at least they will be better than the rusty corroded xr3i springs that were put on it in 98'
they are the only springs i could find that were not really dropping it much, i didn't want it lowered i chose them because it dropped it by the smallest amount 20mm.
otherwise id be using unknown brand from local motorfactors or eurocar parts
