Default can i just adjust the actuator for 10psi??

can i have 10psi of boost without needing to change anything else like chip or charge cooler, will it run 10psi safe without changing anything??

engine is sound,do i just adjust the actuator or bleed valve it and that be it??

or course i can get it setup after but is that all i need??

Yes you could add a bleed valve or preload the actuator so it opens later however doing this will make your car run lean as you are putting more air in and not compensating with fuel I would just wait until your setup.

No, you will end up with a meltdown (or more specifically the car) or both

right ok fellas, thats what i thought, I'm happy to leave it as it is, its standard, one of the very rare examples with an original 24yr old turbo on standard boost etc

Standard boost is 7psi and I'm sure you can turn it up to 9.5 to 10psi max any more the engine will cut out and that's without installing a chip but you will need to set it up properly by a tuning specialist of course.

adjusting actuators for more boost is the pikey way! a setup or chip/tune is the way to adjust boost the ecu/amal valve/bleed valve/boost controller sets the boost the actuator should only be set for a pre determined amount of preload to hold the wastegate closed

reason I'm asking is when i first had the car the boost gauge went to 12 then held at 10 and was fine, had it setup, advance co/fuel mixture etc and now only boosts to 10 holds at like 7,8 which ever, might be a dicky boost gauge, any thoughts?

That will be the boost cut.

I would be conscious of even a slight increase, incase it runs lean!

A number of cars do run lean, but the propensity for things to start melting is high, especially on a turbocharged car.

For the original poster, there is a chance that the car had been setup for higher boost ages ago either via the pikey way or with a chip. Even the youngest RST will be knocking on the door of being 20 years old now. With my last car I had these issues to deal with (the car running between 12-13.5:1 on boost with unknown (but no stock) chips amongst other upgrades (intercooler, exhaust etc.) :/).
