Default Ford 2.0 tdci engines

I'm looking at getting an S Max for the mrs and twins. Any things I should worry about with the 2.0 TDCI engine?
Thanks In advance

I dont know if its the same as a mondeo but the mondys suffered with faulty injectors and duel mass flywheels.

Just like most modern diesels really.

The s max uses a Peugeot derived engine (2.0HDI)

Is that a good thing? My old pug 306 was great, how do these engines stack up?

Like almost all modern diesel cars it will be all well and good until sonething goes wrong with it. There are so many expensive things that can and do go wrong.

You could buy one and have no probs with it or it could cost you a fortune.

Is it likely to do lots of slow short town journeys? If so it must be worth considering a petrol version too

Thanks for that. No it'll be doing longer runs so it's diesel for us. I'll keep my fingers crossed

You don't hear many horror stories about them, the only troubles they give is with clogged DPF's and EGR's etc, but this is mostly due to a lot of town use.

Don't discount the 1.8tdci, in the real world they perform the same as the 2.0, but are more economical, you can blank the EGR unlike with the 2.0 / 2.2 and they don't have DPF's.
