You don't hear many horror stories about them, the only troubles they give is with clogged DPF's and EGR's etc, but this is mostly due to a lot of town use.
Don't discount the 1.8tdci, in the real world they perform the same as the 2.0, but are more economical, you can blank the EGR unlike with the 2.0 / 2.2 and they don't have DPF's.
