Can someone please help me, i bought my first mk5 zs a few days ago, when i bought it was told the fob works but batterys dead, today i went and got a new battery but it wont work i have tried a few different sequences to reprogram the key but that wont seem to work, the car starts fine, but cannot get the fob to work at all.. any suggestions or sequences i can try please people? Also.. am i being stupid.. i dont have the red key.. only one black 3 button.. should this still work?

 

The red key is like the master key for the car, it is worth getting a key cut if you only have one - as if you lose it then you have a load of hassle. Iirc the red key is what they can programme a new key from but should be able ot get one with you log book at the dealers.

 

flick key from off to dash lights on 4 times if it makes a sound, press the fob

The buttons are probably knackered. Pretty common with these. This is your master key, it should also have a normal black non remote key.

 

What i dont get is the reprogram sequence says if inside key has a glass eye its infrared.. if its the 3 botton its radio.. but mines got both :/
