Modified RS1600i engine - tech advide
Looking for some tech input or advice. I have an RS1600i which I'm looking to restore and upgrade parts on, one of which is the engine - I dont want to go fully zetec/duratec as I want to retain some of the original look, but want a bit more than the standard set up produces.
Was considering the following engine spec - any thoughts. Looking for something that will be comparable performance wise to my 180bhp RST or better.
RS1600i head - how good does this flow in OE form and would more work be needed
2.0 zetec bottom end - uprated pistons/rods/conrod bolts - are these needed?
Uprated cam - something good top end
twin 45's or would ITB's be better?
Janspeed manifold & exhaust
Light weight flywheel - any recommendations?

Not keen on that spec - matching a 180bhp rst would be tricky with that as you'll be missing all that torque, as well as revving as flat as a fart and not being 180bhp
Just keep the original engine and take it out of the car then put what you want performance wise in ( zetec turbo ) and when you've finished, put the original one back

This will give you a flavour of getting an n\a cvh tuned up ( including a bigger bottom end option )

You wont get near the on road real world performance of a 180bhp rst tho, never in a million years
