Default Mazda 6's Talk to me

Are they any good and what should i be looking out for?
Looking at 2.0D mk2 2008/2009 models, not really bothered about performance or toys, reliability and running costs are the most important.
Also how does it compare to a MK4 mondeo as thats what i was originally looking at?

Not sure about the later ones but know the early ones rot worse than an 80's ford.

Is that the engine that sludges the oil pickup and shits itself ? in a very short space of time ?

And with really shitty injector seals ?

As previously mentioned, rust. My sister has one, on a 52 plate. The sills are shot and need cutting out and new ones fitted. Otherwise it is not a bad motor.

Just to clarify, this is the model im on about, not the older version with the lexus style rear lights. shame about the rust issues as its quite a nice looking car as far a cheap family cars go.

I bought a 2010 Mazda 6 earlier this year.
It had high miles on it (110,000), but got it at a great price.
It has no signs of rust anywhere. I viewed a couple of 09 cars too, and saw no rust on them either. They are great value in my opinion.

I thought the mazda 6 you're talking about basically is a mk4 mondeo? Like comparing a leon/golf/a3?

Are the engines different then?

All the corrosion issues mentioned relate to the previous model

I think the mk4 mondy is the nicer car out of the 2.

Yeah that's it. I'm a mechanic at Mazda main dealer and avoid the diesel ones like the plague. Most of the ones we get in here u rev them up and the bottom end is rattling :-( oil pick up terrible

Petrol ones will drive to the moon and back.

From what I have read I believe it uses mazdas's own engine, not a psa unit or anything like that, but shares a ford chassis platform.
