Default how quick is an audi tts 2009?cossie beater?

Speaking to a guy tonight who has an audi tts, tells me it's fast as,
are they?
Reckons it would be faster than my cossie, saph 4x4, running t 34, 55lb siemens, 32 psi boost etc,
Would it be?
Kind of curious if it's as good as he says,
cheeRs Colin

We've got a 2010 TTRS in the family and that pulls away (only just..) from my friends 390/390 RWD Saph.

It's quite an under rated and serious bit of kit in all honesty, not the sharpest driving tool, but I've seen an indicated 174 before I had to lift, even though it still wanted to carry on.

Cheers,
Grant

The tts and ttrs are different, a tts is only 270hp so your cos should smoke him, the rs would be more of a challenge as there 335hp.

Does it matter. He is standard you are not. Fast depends on Power so its deepest pockets wins. Enjoy your car let him enjoy his.

To be honest, who really cares

Every man and his dog has got a car quicker than a Cosworth to hear them talk but tell them to come back in 20 years and see how well their car goes then, most won't even be on the road.

Std 265, Stage 1 305, then with exhaust, pump, filter etc they will do 360. Virtually lag free though. Cossie should be quicker.

TTRS 335 std, Stage 1 around 400.

Rick.

Driven an S5, it didn't hang around and the build quality is very good... But just like all modern Audis it was as exciting as watching paint dry

Yeah I get this all the bloody time, soon as someone finds out I got a Cossie all there mates and there's mates dads uncles and aunties have something faster, does my head in, my Cossie is 24 years old and a bit fragile, what do they expect! Cossies must have such a reputation that everything has to be faster lol.

The RS is a different animal though! Same engine in the RS3. I've just done a lot of work on a friends' RS3, now pushing out 460BHP and 520lb/ft. It's ballistic and sounds great. The DSG works much better now than it did as standard and the changes are proper rapid.

Yeah I understood the thread was for TTS info, but was mentioning what a TTRS managed against a 390/390 RWD Saph to highlight that a TTS would get its arse handed to it by the OP's spec of Cossie.

sorry but i disagree. The old ones could be classed as birds cars but i dont think the new ones are. The TTs and RS can be very capable. The TTs is 260bhp as standard. Just a remap sees it way over 300bhp with good torque. Would be less laggy than the cossie. Also because of the haldex setup once it has grip the power moves pretty much all to the front so loses less power through the drivechain. I think a standard one would still be close with the cossie.Cossie would just do it. If the tts was remapped then maybe the tts.

The ttrs is definately not a birds car and is a different league. The transmision takes over 650bhp as standard. Dry sumped as standard.Remap and exhaust sees 430bhp. with a bigger turbo, manifold, big cooler and clutch they make 665bhp at the fly and 604 at the wheels with 526 of torque at the from the 5pot engine.... Thats with standard internals.700bhp is fairly easy to make and it will take it all day long.

Look up stg3 ttrs on youtube.

Cossies are fast for what they are.

Funny how a car nearly 30 years old is still used as the benchmark to compare cars built a few years ago

A standard cossie seemed slow years ago, I reckon a moderate 2L diesel would prob feel quicker these days?

To be fair tho a stg 1 conversion makes it the car it should have been from the factory, much more lively. I suppose that back in 86 they didn't feel that was necessary?

im not doubting how capable they are or what power they can take or make
the fact they are mainly driven by birds and that birds love them means they are a birds car and any bloke who owns one will have to put up with a bit of stick for having one!

I think the fella meant for its design and styling. Not its capability

Its only being used as a benchmark because we are on a Ford site!! I doubt people are comparing them anywhere else!

But the OPs mate is using the OPs cossie as the bench mark. Hence this topic of conversation!

Technology has moved on. A lot of modern cars will ve quicker than cossie. But do these modern cars get the same respect as any cossie.

People who drive modern cars and play with old performance cars and get beat buy the old card hate it. Ive had a bit of a play with a few modern cars and they seem to hate been overtaken lol.

0-60 in 6 seconds?? Even today there are few 'performance' cars that can match this, leave alone beat it.

I guess they just went with Cosworth's stipulation, i.e. that the engine would produce no less than 150 KW.

As to the actual OP, they are 335HP as standard, and have minimal lag from what I have read and the specs are impressive!

Biggest problem with modern cars is weigh so much! The old sierra I'd quite a light car now.
But the newer shape tt is a nice car a friend on mine has one not fast but all round a nice car

I've had my cossie year's, what mods I've done have been for my enjoyment,
Maybe cause it's a daily and people see it going about, but always getting oh this cars faster even had I guy say he'll buy a skyline so he had a faster car, which he still hasn't, lol,
I'm at stage now I just laugh cause they must be jealous of the old cossie,
Also think they forget it's an old car,

I didn't really mean it like that, we can all read how fast something is in a magazine, i was talking about real world performance, ie in gear acceleration, power when taking off up a slip road etc, when its actually noticed on the road. I doubt a std laggy 4x4 saph would get away from a 180hp diesel with the torque it has upto a reasonable sort of speed

A tts is not 335hp thats the ttrs, think they are 260hp std? The two are very different

Other replies seem to suggest that a t34 cos running 32psi wouldn't any quicker than a tts? Maybe not in a 0-60 contest with its minimal lag, fancy gearbox and 4wd system but in the real world i think a cossie with that power would be far quicker

I get it all the time, I'm settled down now with kids and much more sensible in my daily driver as I can't afford to keep fixing/buying cars anymore but soon as someone hears in a conversation I got a Cossie then everyone they know has something faster. Happened today at amotor jumble, I asked one trader how much to paint my cam cover, he asked what car it was and then all of a sudden he started a 5 minute conversation about there evo and how amazing it was, I said I'm a mechanic in a Mitsubishi garage mate And he was amazed that I own a Cossie lol. Same old same old, just winds me up, I never try and show off to people what it Basicly a 24 year old ford sierra!
