Default Has anyone fitted a brake servo to an aftermarket pedal box?

I want to fit a floor mounted pedal box but occasionally the car will still be used on the road so want to fit the servo aswell. Has anybody done this?

Cheers

I haven't seen them what's the idea do they not need a rod off the pedal directly behind like normal ones?

Tbh I have no idea how it works. If you Google Lockheed remote vacuum servo it'll come up.

That's what I have

they dont need a rod so can be mounted anywhere in the car, a brake line from your master cylinder feeds into the cylinder on the servo then the vacuum pressure from the servo multiplies that pressure and sends it out of another brake line

Cheers botters! So am I right in saying that from my master cylinder on the pedal box I go through this first then out to the brake calipers? Also with running separate reservoirs and master cylinders (linked through a balance bar) on the box for front and rear brakes will I need two remote vacuum servos or can both be run through one?

Cheers

Hi Gaz

Sorry I didn't reply to your PM been busy,

Above suggestions are correct just use a remote servo one in each brake line.

I personally wouldn't use the Lockheed one as it has to be mounted I a particular way to work which can limit mounting positions.

I was looking at this one as its a duel circuit and compact.

Single circuit

is your car turbo or N/A.

Surely if the pedal box is right, with correct leverage etc, the pedal shouldnt be that hard for road use ?

That's the other thing people have said even with the right set up cylinders it's still be to much on a road car. Could do with trying one really!

Im not sure how the factory servos are powered on the focus rs but you will need a strong vacuum that you wont really get from a turbo engine so you might need a vacuum pump as well.

I personally cant see your need for a different peddle box in a rs, if it where me I would put the cash that your gonna speed on peddle box, master cylinders, reservoirs, servo, vacuum pump etc in to the disc and calliper set up.

The above is gonna set you back Ł1500 at least a big set of Ap's has gotta be money better spent.

Servo's in virtually all cars are engine vacuum powered, whether turbo'd or not. Obvious exception being diesels.

But yep, the need for a new pedal box could be questioned.

I have priced everything up pedal box, hoses, cylinders, remote servo, remote reservoir ect and like you say It is nearer the 2k which for a fast road and track car prob wouldn't benefit. There would also be fab work needed on the shell! Think I'm going to use the standard pedal box and servo with braided hoses and a bias and like you say use a decent front and rear disc and caliper setup!

Cheers
