Default Sunroof Removal

Can anyone help me with some advice on how to remove the sunroof from a series 2 rs turbo please? The haynes manual in no way relates to what is fitted to the car.

Tried to remove the glass first and I can only get to 4 of the 6 bolts holding it to the frame. I've wound the glass back into the roof and removed all the bolts holding the frame to the car. The frame still won't budge. Any suggestions? Thanks.

pull blind back, there is a metal runner for the blind ,
black frame metal part visible in car , as you look forward >2or 3 Phillips screws there,
, then wind the glass back, slide the metal frame back,
stand on sill either side ,, leaning over the roof ,,
remove any Phillips screws you can see, around 10 or so,
(you`ve done some,, check for any more )
then close sunroof, keep blind slid back, so you can see the glass,
then remove sunroof handle and its plastic trim,
then with your palms , push the sunroof up. some heavy thumps may help it free , apply some tape to the paintwork on front edge, (exterior bodywork)
slide sunroof blind and the black metal frame back into place,
this last piece of advice "not essential " get a co-worker to help you take out roof
good luck !!

Cheers for the walk through. I'm up to the point of pushing the sunroof and frame out. Will get some tape out later and give it a good shove and see what happens. Wish me luck.

As above, but a missed point out. Pull sunroof upwards and towards the front of the car at the same time. refitting is the reverse of above. dead easy job and i'd award it 1 of the 4/5 spanner(as per haynes manual) rating.

its the worst job in the world, fanning about with the sunroof taking it out, putting it in, have a good look and i mean look between the roof skin and inner roof when the sunroof is out and look at the rust that is in there, be prepared for a shock

I've removed the headlining already and there's two rust holes at the back of the sunroof tray. There's a bit of rust bubbling behind the sunroof on the outside as well so i'm expecting the worst. Every time I wind the sunroof back and forth it brings forward more rust and makes a horrible noise.

As for removing the glass first, that was my original intention as it would be the logical thing to do. Would I be right in thinking it's the 3 screws that hold it to the sliding metal frame, then 3 fasteners on each side on the tilting mechanism. Even with the sunroof tilted all the way forward I can't get to the forward 2 fasteners. Is there another easier way?

sun roof removal is easy

3 screws on metal frame as you say

the sunroof MUST be wind up to its angled, then you can get to the 6 screw on the glass that hold it to the frame, 3 each side then it pops out easy

from there its obvious, just unscrew every screw you see and the handle that winds it and pull it out
