Hi,

misleading title,

I have a mk4 escort that once was a 1.3 bonus

It has a 2.0l zetec fitted with a pinto carb and adaptor ( which I am now removing and ebaying)

The engine died enroute to ford fair on sunday so I am pulling the whole lump out and putting in another 2.0 or 1.8 but with the efi inlet etc so its more reliable for the missus to drive as her daily!

I am currently buying a cheap manual mk1 mondeo for all the bits

My questions are;

Is the wiring a massive job? are there any fool proof guides?

Can I use the mondeo 5 speed box? ( its 4 speed atm.. not a big issues though)


I've had a search but most people seem to be changing xr3i 1.6's whereas ours was a proper pov spec car!

I am pretty happy re. the wiring - just gona swao it all over as the current wiring is total shite.

Can I use the mondeo 5 speed box? will it fit>?

 

I think you can use a mtx75 box but you have to do some mods. Never done it so carn't help on that one. I used my original ib5 box but an lsd would have helped in the wet but was ok in the dry.
