Default Potential Focus/Mondeo!

Hi all.

I quite like the idea of having a motor which isn't on finance etc and on having a butchers on AutoTrader i could have a nice Focus estate or Mondeo with up to 60k miles on the clock for between 2k - 4k (obviously depending on age).

I only do around 7k miles a year so do you think one of these motors which would be up to around 10 years old and 60k miles last me a few years without any major costs involved?

I will be looking in the next year or so for a Focus or Mondy for the bigger boot space due to prams/buggies etc, but other than my first car which was a MK3 Escort 1.6 Ghia (and without sounding like a ponce), ive never had a car with 60k miles before!

Thanks for your help peeps!

Yes, aslong as you buy carefully. Ive had older fords with closer to 100k and never had to spend a penny on them in the years that i owned them (exluding servicing and tyres)
I'm sure there will be people on here who have experienced the same with cars that have covered double that mileage again.

I'd go for a MK1 Focus with the 2.0 engine... nippy enough, not mega pricey to run and will go on for aaaages if looked after. I bought a MK1 Focus Collection with about 156k miles on it, ran like a dream and even though there were a few bubbles on the outside, the underside was still in great nick.

Cheers,
Grant

Thanks all!

Scoooby slayer - you are right, finance is a mugs game!! I've always allowed myself £150.00 a month finance but that still mounts up to £1800.00 a year which is a lot!!

I cannot believe what you can get for between 2-4k!!

Cheers all
