Check the Amal valve operation.

Hi, checked the amal valve again yesterday and wasn't clicking when ignition switched on so checked for power and ok, bought a brand new amal valve and fitted and thats working as it should. Still low on boost so disconnected the vac hose of the actuator and carefully took it for a spin to check boost and it boosts as it should. I've got half hole preload on the actuator, does this point to a new actuator needed?

It can't be the actuator if the car is boosting properly with the amal valve bypassed?

Not sure as I've put quite a lot of preload on the actuator and all boosts as should,

It's not the actuator then.

To be honest that's how i set my boost (pre live map). Have you jetted the amal valve?

For that amount of low boost would suggest the amal valve or faulty wiring .

If you are using half hole of preload which most do and you have replaced the amal what kind of actuator are you using ?.If you are using the standard type you need to pressurise it to see if its working. If its after market take it apart and check the diaphragm .My boost dropped in half and the amal was buggered but then the actuator also went.

Could also be the penny I suppose. What does it sound like.Does it boost but feels flat and shit slow or ? ?

Air leak to create a mega drop you should be able to hear as there is something wrong.

Its a brand new genuine garrett -31 actuator fitted, been out in it this evening and its boosting to 16-17 psi, I'm sure it used to boost to about 20-22 psi but that was on a normal boost gauge and I've now got an secs type engine monitor fitted which I'm getting the boost reading from
