Default Sierra Zetec conversion

Hey guys!

I've read a lot about Sierras with Zetec engines, but haven't been able to find a guide or any kind of documentation about it. Can anyone help me with that?
First of all, which Sierra should I use for this project? My first wild guess was the 2.0 DOHC since AFAIK the MT75 gearbox would fit bolt-on with the 2.0 silvertop Zetec. (silvertop it is, because it's much more common where I live, I have never seen a single blacktop for sale). Then I've read that the sump I should have is from the CVH Sierra.
I've learnt that I'm going to have issues with the thermostat not fitting.
Is there anything else I should know? Issues that might cause significant problems? What about clutch and flywheel? I also don't know about ignition.
Plus if anyone has useful docs about the subject I'd be really glad to have them

Thanks in advance, cheers!

Cvh Sierra is probably your best bet due to the fact you will need a Cvh Sierra Sump & pick up pipe on your Zetec to clear the Sierra cross member.

You could always use the clutch, flywheel & type 9 box no problem unless your going massive power turbo.

As for your worries with the thermostat, im not certain but I'm sure there is some kind of aftermarket water rail that was made for retro fitting into mk1 & 2 Escorts so should be the same solution in a Sierra.

That is all I know, and that's just what I have read here and there - I have no hands on experience of this myself.

Thanks, that sounds simple. Obviously it's going to be a lot more complicated.

Anyway, I'm not going to go turbocharged, for some reason I have a strange affection for naturally aspirated engines

At first I've planned a 2.0 DOHC -> rs2000 conversion, then been told to think about Zetec, and everyone told me that a 150+ hp engine (which is about what I could achieve without a turbo, maybe 160-170)would kill a Type 9 box in little or no time. Is this not true then?

I also try to put a zetec in Sierra.

I think you may use a blacktop solid flywheel from Focus with 1.8 diesel clutch plate. You should also use a CCT133 type clutch release bearing for Type 9(N) gearbox.

You'll need 1.8CVH right engine mount. The left one you'll have to built yourself. The space between the end of a head and the body is about 70mm, but there's a steel brake cable so real free space for water rail is about 40-45mm

Hey, thanks, that's nice to know! How are you going on with it? When did you start?

And you will need the CVh Sierra engine mounting brackets.

That's what I suspected Have you also started with a CVH Sierra as mk22door suggested?
