Hi just got home from work and on my journey home the digital screens have all blanked out leaving only dashes and the speedo has stopped working! Anyone else has this or even knows what the fault is? 53 plate mondeo tdci. Thanks in advance for any help given. Just put my dongle in it. Got 2 fault codes. P0500 vehicle speed sensor & U1039??? Is the speed of the car calculated via the ABS sensors? Or is there an actual unit on the gearbox? I ask this as I've had an ABS light on now for a while. Cheers.

I had the clocks out a while ago to change a blown bulb. Been ok since. But when I turn on the ignition it all seems to work perfectly. Milage temp all showing when I move off it all goes to -------- I've had an abs issue for a bit now and I had the f/n/s strut off on sat. Wondering if that's done anything.
The car we changed the clocks on was a bit of a pain in the arse. Everything would work perfectly for days, then all of a sudden it would all go off and the speedo and rpm needles would stay where ever they were. Took the auto spark ages to work it out

Ah. Well my rev counter works fine. Temp fuel gauge too. The speedo is at 0mph. I'm pretty sure it's not the clocks. My gut says abs as I've been told the speedo works off the wheel sensors. Only option I guess is a computer diagnostic. It'll show up faulty sensors. Just begrudge paying £30+ for the displeasure. Thank you for your input tho pal. All opinions welcome.

My cheap plug in dongle says it's a vss fault. Abs lights been on a while.been putting it off till mot time, What I'm trying to find out is does the abs system double up as the vss or is there a vss sensor on the gearbox. I've been told the abs doubles up as the vss. But could do with this verifying if possible. Cheers.

Get the ABS fault sorted first. Probably just needs a new sensor, I put one on my old mk3 Mondeo, £15 off ebay and took longer to jack it up and take the wheel off than it did to change the sensor.

lol. I had it all off at the weekend. The torx bolt is rusted up and chewed to bits. So I dunno how I'm gonna get them out. Been there for 13yrs. Guess I'll be getting my drill out!!!! I did buy 2 sensors in anticipation of the fault.
