Im currently in the middle of fitting an after market alarm system, and ive lost the use of my tailgate switch and my passenger door wont unlock via the CDL with key.
Im 99% certain that I've blown or earth something out ( as i remember two wires touching and a bit of smoke coming off them , was only for a second ).
Problem is i cant seem to find the fuse or locate the faulty wire.
All the CDL works fine from the remote , so am i right to say the motor asnt gone on the passenger door ?

Car is 2004 Fiesta Zetec

Wires that touched was from the GEM unit , Blk/org in the green plug and blk/grn in the dark grey plug.

 

you may have fried the gem bit inside that controls it or you may have fried the complete c/l system unit

they are fairly fragile

the remote working isn't related as it seemingly takes a different route to power the trigger motor

other than getting a complete wiring diagram up to find out which wire powers which thing in the boot (there are about 8 wires on the plug) it's a bit tricky to figure out

see if you can get power to the boot switch first from the outside and work back from there

 

Thx for reply .... If its the GEM unit does it after av the same part number as ive seem 1 on ebay with part no ... 2S6T 15K600 BF and mines 4S6T 15K600 BA

 

Other ones will work, but they may not have the functions as yours

Also get one from a higher spec car as somethings might work but do remember that you will have to reprogram the alarm fob in most cases
