Rocker cover gasket and sump
Trending Topics
I also had issues with the rubber rocker gasket so I'm using cork.
Tip for fitting the rocker cover gasket: Apply a thin layer of grease to each side of the cork gasket before fitting. Use no sealants.
Tip for fitting the sump gasket: thoroughly clean the sump and block, take the new gasket and super glue it in place on the block, holding it there with the bolts. Once the superglue is dry, remove the bolts and fit the sump, torquing it correctly.

i am using the rubber onces, but from burton. I don't know if its because of the burton onces or just all of them but i think they are a pain in the ass to fit and they always keep leaking!
I pay about 40 pound for a ford one! Are they also as expensive in the UK?

I buy all my gaskets from a guy called "Gaskets for Classics" on eBay. I think I paid around £50 for a whole head set including a Payen head gasket. £40 from ford sounds a lot.

I spoke to soon, just after saying this I noticed a few drops of oil on the floor and thought it was the sump gasket leaking by the pully but after giving a real good clean up I found out it was the new rubber rocker gasket
new cork one fitted now so fingers crossed.
i used rubber rocker gasket as the cork one weeped, i just tightened it still my fingers bleed almost then retighten it after a few more days. Its really tight. been on months now with no problems what so ever.
as for the sump just tighten till it almost squeezes out the side then slightly loosen so it goes back in. doesn't leak, been on 17 months now dry as a dink dong
