Thumbs up Sierra 4x4 V6

Gidday,
Can anybody help me with information re separating a V6 engine from the
4x4 transmission.
Polite answers only please.
The only information I have been able to obtain is from a Haynes manual which is not worth a pinch of Dog poop !!
I am extremely lucky to live in Queensland Australia, around 28 degree today without a cloud in the sky, had to slip that in. Sierra's were never sold here so info is non existent.
If anyone has a Ford W/S manual they may be able to scan the info and send it me. les.mellor@bigpond.com.
I am fitting a Cosworth V6 to this car, they too are like hens teeth here so all items are imported and no one to consult.
Should be good when it is finished, with a few tweaks it will be good for sprints and club racing.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Les.

You need to modify the 24v sump for oil returns if your going 4x4 with it.

As for pulling your 12v out, it's just a matter of undoing stuff

On a serious note, how handy with a socket set & a car are you?

I'd probably drop it all out onto a trolley, then you can get to everything easier.

Thanks for the reply, rather tongue in cheek I feel!!
as for my expertise with tools and my qualifications.
I am a retired Motor Engineer aged just short of 3 score and 10, I did my first engine swap at the age of 15 on a motor cycle and have not stopped fiddling since, raced self built Karts, speedway, and motor racing. I own and race a 160HP Lotus Cortina, a Lotus Elan +2 with a 200hp Zetec engine with my own Fuel Injection and a self built sports race car powered by a 400hp Nissan Turbo.
I also have a very well equipped shed come workshop.
Think I can handle rebuilding an engine I have never seen previously in a car I have never seen in the flesh ?
Les.

It's a heavy job separating the v6 engine and box but should be a simple swap.iirc yu will need the 12v flywheel, clutch,a roller bearing for the end of the crank for the lay shaft to locate into, full sump assembly, modify the exhaust headers or use the 24v headers, the rad and hoses will all work, you need to blank off 1 manifolds egr port and I can't remember where the take off for the brake servo is.
Quite an easy conversion,I managed to do a 2wd conversion 10 years ago so if I can do it a man of your calibre can.
Wiring depending on year of loom can be tricky, early loom without immobiliser is better.
Pics would help get more replys!

Undo the suspension top mounts, steerung shaft, crossmember engine and box and brake lines and speedo drive plus eletrics and fuel lines then drop the whole front end off in one bug lump

On the xr youve got to dismantle the steering first then the crossmember if you want to take the engine out the top so much easier to do it this way
