i recently posted on here about a bad missfire i had and it went worseand thrown a eml light on the car has done 155000 been advised that the head needs re doing and a top end rebuild any advise before i break it im totally gutted as have only had it 8 months

 

Which engine mate? I'm gonna be looking at a diseasel one soon...

 

What sort of advice do you need?

 

no petrol 2 litre only thoght it would be a coilpack or plugs anyway been told it will still run but get worse ill run it to the end off the week only got 1 months mot so rather it happen now instead off freshly moteing it

 

Whats been tested on it?

Has the compression been tested?

Has the injector been tested/swapped?

Does it miss all the time, or just on acceleration?

 

it misses all the time specially on acceleration if you keep it at speed with no revs its fine it cost me 30 quid to diagnose this he was goin on about valve seals etc

 

I know these engines can burn oil at high mileage but not seen any top-end issues yet.

Not to say it's not possible it could have..

As above, it needs a compression test doing, it could have a valve burnt out.

Valve seals would cause smoke not a misfire unless it's fouling the plug which I doubt.

 

ill bell him tommorow it isnt very good at starting either and it does blow smoke out on start up along with needing a new thermostat aswell

 

Ah, so it has more issues than just a misfire then

 

from what ive read on other forums the thermostate if not changed it can wreck the head proberly was fooked when i bought it
