4i Rebuild (Cam Cover fitted)
Well the 4i has been off the road now for about 17 months, so its about time I gave it some love.
The reason it came off the road was due to driver error
, I missed a gear and over reved the engine
As lots will know instead of rebuilding the engine I got myself a Moonstone 3dr and have been doing that up ever since. Im now at a point with the 3dr that means it's only finishing touches to do on it which means I can now sort the 4i out.
I have purchased another engine which has a long studded 200 Block fully ported 4x4 head, big wing sump etc. This is Fletchcossie's old engine which made 492bhp on a old spec TT T38 and 4x4 exhaust manifold along with a ST inlet manifold.
When I changed my TT T38 to my improved one with a billet comp wheel and anti-surge housing the 4i gained 20bhp @ the hubs running the same boost. Mine will be fitted with a 2wd exhaust manifold and a Hart Inlet with a ST Escort TB. After the car has been remapped by Lord Tony of Turbosystems the car should be 500bhp+ again all being well.
Updates will be slow but it should be back on the road within a few months.
I have stole a lot of parts off the 4i for the 3dr so I need to source and replace these. Any of the parts I get I will check against the ones on the 3dr and if they are better they will be fitted to the 3dr and then the other parts will go back onto the 4i.

I might fit the 3dr front bumper I have to increase airflow to the intercooler. I am going to replace the brake servo with the power brakes from a cossie but no ABS.
I might take 1 or 2 lol
Its far from the nicest, but thanks

Im not going to do anything major to the engine bay this year. I just want it back on the road lol.
I will clean up and spray lots of bits but that's about it, just a small tidy up.

Good luck with the rebuild mate good to see it's finally getting fixed, just curious about the xr4i brake setup you had before, did you connect a vacuum up to the inlet manifold with the cosworth lump in? I've just fitted an xr4i servo and tapped in a vacuum into the inlet manifold on mine but am yet to find out if it works

I was also considering cutting out the lower bar in the bumper.
First thing first is to get the old thing running.
