Hello all,

my first post,,,,got a knocking on the rear of my mondeo 55 plate over slight bumpy roads,sounds like a deep knocking noise when suspensions bouncing...could this be drop links?

Also my steering wheel for the first 5-10 minutes of driving sticks in the middle,requires a little force to steer left or right,after 10 mins this disappears but cars still pulling left,tracking been checked and fine.

Probably the 4 middle bushes that are knackered.

Rear subframe bushes are very common
Differing views as to whether or not you need the realignment tool after you changed them though

 

Cheers dojj. ...I'm hoping they're gonna be covered under my used car warranty I have taken out with warranty wise...got the 5 star cover so hope so lol..gonna book it in next week to have that and the steering wheel sticking looked at, ill let yous know what they find, thanks for the help fellas much appreciated

 

As mentioned above, it's probably the rear subframe bushes..
I had exaxtly the same thing on mine! Replaced the drop links first, made no difference..
Then I did the subframe bushes, problem gone.

The ones shown are the powerflex poly-bushes, I used those but they're not cheap!
Hopefully though your warranty will cover you!
Mentioned above are the common bits to go, but get all of the rear bushes checked.
I also had a broken rear spring prior to the subframe bushes going...

I didn't use a realignment tool, just fashioned my own alignment 'pins' for the locations on the subframe.. Seemed to work for me, as 10k miles later on tyre wear is all fine....

There's some great people on this site that pointed the way for me!!!

 

The most common steering issue is a bolt at the end of the steering column that works its way loose
Easy fix with a redesigned replacement boot from Ford
Also, when you replace drop links, the eBay Ł5 versions last about a year, but the fire ones are Ł50 a pop for the fronts and the rears are a right pain if they've rusted into place
