Default Transit diesel knock

Hi. Hopefully someone can help. Transit mk7 115 2.4 rwd. My van has very bad diesel knock but only from cold when you put the engine under load. Am I right in thinking this is over fueling injectors? If that is the case will a leak of test work as I thought that only shows what is being returned?.

Appreciate any help as it's doing my head in now. I only put a complete set of injectors in just over a year ago.

Cheers.

The van will probably need a pcm calibration then the fuel pump learn, a injector learn and then the fuel pressure relief valve reset.

That should sort it

Thanks for replying. Thing is when the injectors went last time it had all of what you just mentioned but that didn't really cure it, it helped but didn't last long. Once the injectors were changed it was perfect. 15,000 miles later and it's the same again.

on them 24's the timing chain stretches and causes mischief like a diesel knock due to advanced timing and also the fuel pump timing solenoid can cause trouble.
also try checking for water in the fuel as that will fuck up injectors so if you replace them you fuck em up again as the problem is still there.......

Later 2006> engines don't seem to suffer (well I haven't seen any yet) with the timing chain issues of the earlier pre 2006 engines.

I know on the later 2.2s Ford have bought out an FSA (field service action) for a mandatory software update as excess cylinder pressures when cold have been making pistons shit themselves.

On the fuel rail they have a PRV that can fail, if it has the above pump learn reset etc Bram mentions will need doing.
