was asked to get a set of tyres for my ex mrs car and her tyre size is 195/50/15 so thoughts were some toyos at £150 for 4 delivered then I took a look at the performance ratings for the tyres, the proxes came out with a G on economy and a E on wet handling and 71db which is crap and then a tyre called a greenmaxx (not linlong) came out C on economy and a B on wet handling and same 71db which is awesome and makes the toyo look poor
Are you sure greenmax is not linglong ?? we sell them and they are made by linglong. They have good ratings and sell very well but everywhere you look on the net they all say they are ditch finders.
I looked this up after reading steves post and linlongs is a greenmax and the one steve mentioned is made by greenmaxx

they do John although the tread pattern does not look as a nice a toyo lets say but it wasa eye opener the ratings
yes vince thats what I found mate
My mondeo came with linglongs on it, to be honest I pushed it pretty hard and couldn't get them to slip. Then again I've only got 125bhp under my right foot lol.
Nankangs are actually a good tyre, people give them a lot of shit but for a tyre to use on a daily, they are quiet, last a long time and grip well. I don't really rate toyos at all, they are another budget brand and not a good one imo, I wouldn't touch Avons either, way too soft.
Best tyre I have ever used though is continentals, pricey though!

When i bought my saph it had nankangs and thought they would be crap like most but they gripped well and were hard wearing, goes without saying doing a track day on this type of tyre is a no no but everyday they are sweet, now wirh my 500 i only run top tyres but its all done to useage really

as you say vince it comes down to your driving style, if you spend your time driving on the limit then cheaper tyres is no way to go but for a everyday plodder I have no issues with nankang but funny how they are more expensive than toyos now though
think it was 5th gear that did a test on budget vs cheap vs second hand tyres and the resluts were VERY strange
dry braking the posh tyres stopped way better, but in the wet, the cheaper tyres stopped a bus length sooner and even the part worns were better based on the fact that the eco tyres have less rolling risitance to make them easier to spin and use less fuel/enegry
