Get the codes read from engine and ABS.
That needs to be done with Ford specific equipment, because generic EOBD/OBD2 cannot communicate with the ABS system.

Air flow meter fooked possibly. Common fault on them and it will show esp error when it fails. But as said, get the codes read!

Cheers for that put it on the computer today turns out it was the air mass meter very strange that it would bring on the esp light as well but the new air mass fitted it seems to be ok now. seems to go abit better than before the fault is this possible?

Yes, it certainly will feel better if the airmass meter was defective.

Modern computers om a car share information. The engine will share rpm, load and those kind of things with the ESP/ABS, the automatic gearbox and others. The ESP needs that info to calculate how to counter act when wheel spin occurs. Engine load can be calculated from the amount of air going into the engine, so a defective airmass meter can bring up the ESP light.
