it stays on until you change gear!!!

I actually quite like it, but not sure about the way it works... Reckon I prefer it if it flashed when you should change gear, not turn off

sorry...i meant it stays on once the revs have got to a point and then you change gear!!!.....then it goes off

you can buy little caps to cover the light so its not bright if i remember correctly, mate had one on his rally slagged mk2 escort and it had a cap on it that dulled the light down alot and allowed you to see after it lit up
they are WELL bright without a cap though

I know im a little slow at times, but im just not getting it, why would someone invent that?
Surely to be driving the car in the first place you have sat a driving test proving you are capable of changing gear, why do you need a light to tell you............ or is it there as a reminder?

Not dissing the shiftlight, but is it just me or does anyone else listen to the engine for changing gear? i very rarely look at the rev counter TBH and always seem to "Magically"
change gear at around 6700k
