Default collecting my first mk1 FRS tomorrow

Hi all,

Been searching for one of these for a while now and have found the one I want. Deposit has been paid ready for collection this week pending an under body inspection as I have seen and heard some horror stories about rot on the cills and aches etc.

If any rust is found I will be walking away as I'm not buying a car which is relatively modern fou that sort of money with rust on it. I'm happy with the interior and exterior condition, wheel looks new inside and is not worn, seats have additional stitching and are not worn. Car comes with Rs Matt's And wallet along with both keys and fobs.

Paint work is v good, no dents or scratches. Car drives well with no bangs etc charge cooler pump is doing it's job aswell.

So apart from looking underneath and the above description is there anything else I should be looking for? It's totally standard and appears very well looked after.

Thanks.

Cheers guys I'm getting excited now.

I've checked the mirror bases and all good, checked bottoms of doors aswell.

It's going on a ramp so I will be giving it a thorough look over. I can't believe that Ford still make cars of this age that rust!! I've always had Ford's so I know how bad they can be.

Thanks.

just make shure u check it well regarding rust.

and with that said....ALL cars rust.
when they "dont" rust..its all a matter of the car have been pampered more than the others...so its very much possible finding a Ford or any other make that has less to zero rust on it
My focus Rs mk1 is as rust free as they come i would say.
You are welcome to check out my "resto thread" on the car...and the link is in my signature

Anyways..the focus rs mk1 is one hell of a car,and ive been into Cosworths all my "drivers license life"...and i really do not miss the cosworths for one bit...though i would gladly like to have one more cosworth later on..but the focus Rs mk1 drives sooo well..and the car itself have the proper Ford rally legacy built into it..so its a perfect RS for me

I think you would enjoy it very much.

cheers from stefan from norway

I was really dispapionted with mine when I first got it. Was slow.
Breaks squeal like fuck. They all do.
Clutches are very expensive.

And I average 19mpg acros a tank. ( it will do 32mpg sat on the motor way at 70. )

I've got a Decat, chip and forge actuator now. ( it ha a manifold and system when I got it ) and it's a lot better now.
