TIFF, you will appreciate this.............
I goes round a mates house and he has deciced to change his back boiler to a combi (he gets em cheapish) and asks me if i will pull my tools out of retirement and fit it for him @ mates rates

round i goes, hangs the boiler, fits flue, tie in mains feed ,gas(oops) and dhw, i start to run f&r for the heating and find that all the house is fed from a single 22mm pipe with the rads coming off it (like the old thermosyphon systems) and going in the bottoms.....so now i have to run a 22mm all round so i can use an index rad and set it up traditionally..........i goes in the loft and he only has one tank with 2 vents into it and two take offs (one for cylinder and one for heating)....at this point i have the tank iso'd, the cylinder drained, mains all off, and open ends on the htg f+r, its now 6pm and i am going home, i turn the water mains on and open up his cylinder feed, leaving the boiler make up shut...tidy up and tell him i will be back friday as i have to work today and 2morra...........................then he tells me (as the tank is filling rapidly) "yeah you should of seen all the black shit i been getting out my hot tap" i ponder for a minute ...laughing , then realise this is the reason he is changing his system..............because the coil has fell to bits in his cylinder...........30 seconds later..........open ended chw pipes turn in to fire hydrants .........i remember now, why i stopped doing domestic shit
