Default Saff headlamps/upgrades?!

thaught there was a thread on upgraded bulbs but search hasnt helped as usual lol

using an old G plate 1.8cvh Saff to do a 400 mile trip to newcastle via northampton on Boxing Day with my 2yr old lad at 3am and dont wanna have any issues,

changing the headgasket, waterpump, thermostat and tyres so.............

Headlamp bulb upgrades (NO SHITTY HID KITS HERE PLEASE!!)

what can you do to upgrade the lights on the front of saffs??

ive got some Ring Xenon Ultima bulbs,

can the headlamps be relayed or upgrade the alternator output etc??

what have you lads done??

its not my Rouse so dont wanna buy silly stuff for it lol

Cheers, Sean.

probably the best bet is to relay the headlights, that should give a decent increase in light.

I retrofitted the facelift projectors into my B5 A4 as the pre facelift lamps were even worse

PIAA Night Tech are good bulbs too, have some in my E46.

With the Saff, make sure the reflectors are good too, but you know that anyway!

I relayed the lights in my mk2 Golf, 2 relays, one for dip, one for main. Used the old wires to switch the relays.

If I was going to do it again , I'd deffo put the relays inside the car, had to replace a couple on the Golf from getting corroded, but they were in the engine bay so not suprised

I swear by night breakers aswell. Put them in my mk2 xr2, did them in the dark 1 at a time and the difference was like night and day

Seperate the lenses from the lamps. Give the reflectors a good clean and use some car body polish on them. Clean lenses, refit, then relay the lights and fit some new bulbs. Made a massive difference in my old Sapph.

See my lights were shite in my white Sapph, they looked like they were painted matt grey inside not reflectors. It was like driving with candles in jam jars
