It's a vauxhall so no I'm afraid not.

I've driven loads and would take an ST over one every day of the week... They sound ok but handling is shocking and not as reliable as the ST

someone i used to know was fairly high up at vauxhall and the horror stories about major engine problems in 10,000 miles were all to often.

I wouldn't say the handling is shocking, the one Vauxhall ran in the MHC this season was pretty damn good and was completely standard:

ok, well im not a racing driver but wouldn't say a bad one and i would say the handling is shocking, ive driven one at 3,000 miles and 20,000 miles and they both seemed loose at rear and un settled at highspeed.

i also thought when approaching a corner and braking in a straight line before turning in they were very uneasy giving no confidence to push them as hard as the RS and to a point the ST

I've had mine 7 years and can't fault it. Bought in new in 07 and its never missed a beat. Only replacement parts are tyres, mine has 19's so £200 a corner, and a set of discs and pads on the front. Its now done 40,000 miles. I would say at £5k to £6k would get a good one.

I've got a racing edition corsa vxr tuned by regal and its a decent car.goes really well and sticks to the road as well as the focus.just fancied something for a change as a daily.seats are the best ive had in a car.

Don't understand that...mines almost go kart like, reminds me of my old RS Turbo from back in the day...had 3 Subaru STI's in between and its better than those. Only issue is traction mainly in wet, other than that a good alround fast reliable hatch.

i dont think your pushing it hard enough mate.

ive owned all sorts of evos, subarus, fords, etc and i really do think they handle terrible, I dont want to be an arsehole or put down your car but in my opinion they really are bad and as for the wet just dont bother.

Had a nurburgring, great car but beware of rusty back arches...the bumpers rub causing this, also the gearboxes are made of chocolate...

i think it all depends whether you want to drive a car like you stole it and use maximum potential off the cars or you drive it as a sensible but not that mad driver as said every driver has limits mines not to drive mad anymore subaru loved mine cliosport hated it know got a mundeo ghia x but im old lol

Can go very well indeed and there seems to be a fair bit of tuning, friend of mine is currently building one that shouldn't be far off 500bhp. Problem is though the chassis is total shit! I have pushed many a VXR through the twisty stuff and always found myself having to hold right back so as not to push them too hard and passing wouldn't be safe.

they are good cars,do torque steer and dont handle as good as the megane f1 BUT i would say its quicker than a st,more fun and drives decent too if you dont go into modding it too much

I agree quicker than an ST in a straight line but I'm a lot more confident with an ST in the corners

Maybe, but tbh i don't use road as a race track anymore!

Those days were reserved for STI's and there 15 mpg...got bored with that.

At the time it was the most powerful, most aggressive looking hot hatch on the market, giving me 30 mpg on a run and still looks good on the 19's.

Suppose it depends what you want it for.

I would get mk5 astra 888 over a vxr. They are rare, handle better and have Alcon brakes and for a diesel it will give a vxr a good go

I'm positive someone has said on here about the vxr that tey knew someone that had to take it back over 20 times for warrenty repairs.

Think it could of been Lucas thread when his mrs bought a corsa vxr that someone said that.

Having driven both a focus st and an astra vxr on test drives...the Astra would be my personal choice. The focus was a big let down for the hype they have!!

I like the look of the Astra but I would never have one I had a corsa vxr for 12 months and in that 12 months it had 27 warranty claims including a new engine I will never trust another vauxhall ever again lol

I test drove a focus st, Astra Vxr and the Golf gti, all around 2007/ 2008 plate back in May.

The astra was a hooligan car but wouldnt go round corners.

The focus st was a nice car but the fuel costs scared me.

So i bought the golf gti, best car ive owned, handles great, goes well and the interior is the nicest out of them all.
