You did well shaving 3 hours off a 8 hour autodata, I find a lot of autodata times odd

Yeh auto data is a joke IMO, we did a Kia alternator the other day which took hours to do and auto data gave us 0.7hr to do it in?

seen a few autodata times for flywheels as 1 hr less than the clutch time?
last time checked you had to take the clutch out to get to it so WTF
i think they're just made up half the time tbh

The best ones are transits where you have on most occasions it show 2.5 hrs to do a clutch that takes less than an hour

Kia/Hyundai lab times are a joke, engine bay wiring loom on an i10 which requires the whole dash and heater box to be removed, they give you something like 2.7hrs for the whole job.

We told the customer £750 and could do it straight away and she nearly threw the keys at us lol, won't be doing one again for a while

I try not to use it if I can but we use it as a price guide sometimes and it fucks us up

When i did one of those i just dropped everything out the bottom and pulled the box off on the deck. The poor guy was down here on holiday from scotland and he didnt want to get the car took home on a transporter so i took the job on like a fool. At the time i thought WTF have i got myself into but to be fair there is alot more harder jobs out there to do. I think i charged the guy £600 to do the job but when he came to pick the car up the next day he then told me he had called other garages and they wanted £1500 upwards to do the job. Lets just say i learnt my lesson that day !

Appreciate it's a tricky job - But given the hours quoted, and the prices charged - it still works out as a tidy profit (presuming the clutch isn't £600!)

If i remember right dan the clutch kit was about £130 and £15 for box oil so yes there is money to be made doing these but when you look at hourly garage rates these days then i think it was a tad cheap.

It was ment to be a scare quote, but she actually said it was the cheapest quote she got so we couldn't change it, the clutch kit was only £178+vat so the rest was hard labour
