Default Would you travel tomorrow to *now with pics*

I've organised to go and collect a Mk2 RS Focus from RS Focus Direct for my mate tomorrow. He's been looking a long time and tomorrows the day

We're in Southport and RS Focus Direct is in Bristol:

http://www.theaa.com/route-planner/i...69972%7C182994

It's 4.5 hour to get to by train down south and a 3.5 hour drive drive back up north.

He's banned so im driving it back.

Question is, is this weather warning bollocks or is it worth reconsidering He's paid his deposit and can't wait. If we don't go tomorrow it'll be 2 weeks till we can do it.

What would you do?

By banned do you mean banned from driving? If so, how's he going to drive it when you deliver it to him? Can't think insurance would be cheap if coming off a ban.

It's going to sit on his drive for the remaining month he has left, Dad

Insurance is Ł2k.

Regardless, it all sounds like it's a storm in a tea cup, no

Give it a go but just go carefully. It doesn't matter if what should be a 3 1/2 hour journey takes 4 1/2 hours, the main thing is just getting it (and yourselves) back safely.

agree 100%

sounds a bit windy outside and was lightly raining around an hour ago when I came home but otherwise seems ok.

I drove from salford to London son Sunday night late and the m40 was frighting, due to surface water, wind and a smashed up car lights out in lane 3 near the m25. If I hadn't spent some time practicing skidding and getting to understand DSC I would not have the BMW in one piece, terrifying as my daughter was next to me!

Wow bummer!

This is guaranteed. 2009 30k mile in ultimate green.

Not worried about getting back. I will take it easy as the fastest thing I've ever driven is a ST170!

Depends what the ban was for. I got a ban last year for speeding and my insurance company and my Mrs company were less than bothered by it. Made no difference at all at renewal time

exactly. Ive had 2 "bans" in my time, once for being insane (well technically licence revoked not a ban but declarable and treated the same) and i was pretty much uninsurable for a year afterwards with quotes twice what a drink driver would get totally unfair IMO a drink driver is more of a risk than someone whos had a professional say they are safe to drive.

And a totting up which wasnt as bad as drink driving but still pretty steep.

Nice pics mate. Agree with Sinbads comments regarding the MK1 FRS.

Did you have an eventful drive back mate or did the weather conditions stop you from giving it a bit of juice?

totting up bans are viewed quite harsly too. Because a) you havent learnt your lesson so it leads to a pattern of risky behaviour ie higher insurance risk plus often they dont have the details of what you got the points for, so again they bump the premium as it could be anything.

I wound it up a little on the trip back but it was a) pretty damp b) was only on tpft temp insurance and c) didn't feel right slaying it when my mate, who just put up the Ł20k was sat next to me
