I know about rear mount and what engine are you using? Ie focus, mondeo?
Do I need change sump? Etc
Just need to know all the bits that need doing please?
Or is it easier to drip 1.8 blacktop in??
Cheers in advance

You'll need the 1800 sump and pick up, and water pump as the impeller spins the opposite way. Engine mounts will need to be fabricated. Hope this helps dude

I just went for the 1800 focus BT for my latest.

I looked at 1.8 Bt out of mondeo. Is that any good? And also do the 1.8s need modding at all? Cheers

From a mondeo yeah. The thing with them is the exhaust runs the wrong side to others hence the sump and pick up swap. If your going mondeo go 2.0. The focus 1.8 is more straight forward and for not much less hp. Can be sorted with a tb and cams if your bothered bout 15 hp over ease.

1.8 bt and the 2.0bt have the same sumps. Just the silvertops that have different sump arrangements afaik. You will need an idler puller made up to run the water pump the correct way.

Don't have to change the sump or water pump

1.8 and 2.0 blacktop are the same engines using all the same parts. Its slivertops 1.6 1.8 and 2.0 that use diffrent parts.
for some gearboxs to fit the blacktop you do have to swap the lower crank case/sump and flywheel for them to fit.

I dont know what car you have but if you have something thag takes the sliver top as std you'll need most of the parts from that model car.

So get the 2.0 Bt and the 1.6 focus Bt flywheel and will that run ok? Will the cps still work the same? Off the 2.0 ecu etc? Cheers

I have a zetec blacktop in mine. exhaust clears the blacktop sump no problems idler pulley made up for the waterpump, slight grinding on the waterpump housing to fit cvh alternator with zetec pulley. I used the cvh efi flywheel drilled the holes out to 11mm iirc
Very easy conversion to do here are some old pics I found.

It's only 60 quid and if I wanna go for more power I can always swap again.

The xr3i is a 130 output. The 2.0 litre is the same so it's a decent compromise

So just stick with the 1.8 xr3i engine? Drop straight in or need any mods?

I have got engine now, firstly I never got the loom from ecu to engine loom? What other looms are the same?
Secondly it's DARK ecu and thirdly the gearbox is rear starter? But it looks like it will bolt straight in? Which to me indicates it could be the 1.6 zetec and not from an xr3i?
Will the gearbox be ok rear starter? Will I just need extend wires? Cheers
